Studies show that recycling polyester allows for considerable energy savings in the manufacturing process (33-53%), and it is undeniable that tackling plastic waste has become one of the major environmental challenges of this decade. Globally, about 450 million metric tons of plastic are produced every year and 9.5 million tons of plastic are thrown into the ocean annually, most of it single-use.
Recycled cotton can be generally defined as converting cotton fabric into cotton fiber that can be reused in textile products. The largest volume of recycled cotton sources is produced through pre-consumer waste, such as cutting scraps. The CO² and fossil fuel emission savings can be partially offset by using existing materials.
